K Startup Special Visa Recruitment Started

In August, I wrote an article about the new Korea Special Startup Visa < Korea Introduces the Special Startup Visa | by @tylersahib | SkalePlus>..

The good news is that the application recruitment has officially started on November 7, 2024 until- November 20, 2024. This means, if you are a startup founder residing inside or outside of Korea, you can apply for this Special Startup Visa at the Immigration Office or the Korean Consulate in your country.

But before you apply at the Immigration Office or consulate, you need to obtain a recommendation letter from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and present that recommendation letter to the immigration representative at the Consulate or Immigration Office.

How to apply for the Recommendation Letter and what are the timelines?

• Application Period: November 7, 2024- November 20, 2024.
• Results Announcement Period: End of November.
• Documents Needed:

          A) Recommendation application.

          B) Business Plan.

          C) Provision, use, and consent of personal information form.

          D)  Passport OR Residence Card in Korea  

          E) (not mandatory/preferred) Recommendation from a K Scouter (Entity or person assigned by KISED) 

          F) (not mandatory/preferred) Business Registration Proof

With this visa, there are less requirements than obtaining other Startup or Investment visas. You don't need to have a degree, IP, or OASIS program point or win the K Startup Challenge.
